In our ONE DAY WORKSHOP, we

How to handle it, work with it...create
shapes, molds, create slip.

Then we started in on our first piece,
using what we had just learned.

By noon, these were in the kiln, we
were starting on our Second piece and
having lunch.

After lunch...the first firing was finished
and it was time to take our work out of
the kiln!

VOILA...what fun to see the
expressions on their faces.

The second pieces were put in the kiln
and we worked on the fine finishing of
our first creations.
Jerri and I met last year.
She is a BIOLOGIST on
campus.  She has
purchased pieces of my
jewelry in Sioux Falls and
we had
discussed PMC.  I told I
when I did a class I would
let her know and I
think she was one of the
first to sign up.  She is
wearing the lovely
piece she made that day!

One of the unique and beautiful venues that
carries my jewelry is the
South Dakota Art
Museum
It is located on the edge of the SDSU South

This incredibly beautiful building not only houses
permanent works of art...but also has monthly
artists receptions
and new works rotating through.  There is a
constant effort on their part to impart the
unique talents of artists
in South Dakota and a wonderful opportunity to
meet them in person and discuss their works at
these wonderful
receptions.

This past year I was asked to do a PMC
workshop.  Their lower level has classrooms that
are large, well lit and fully equipped.
There is a theater and gift ship and a play area
for visiting children....they think of everything.

Plus a staff that is second to none!
Our first class this Spring at South Dakota
State University Brookings
was  a rousing success. A terrific class of 6
incredibly talented students had a full day
of class.  Homemakers, students,
professors...all with great smiles, super
attitudes and TONS of talent.
what a super experience...I was acquainted with the art teacher,Maja Shoemaker
through our work with the local Fields Project.  I have always taught college
students and adults...and this was just an incredible experience for me.  They had
such open minds, and wonderful creative ideas...I just let them go with the flow...
I will have more pictures next week with closeups of their incredible
creations...meanwhile...this slideshow.
