Women's Art Exhibition, "I am Woman," show opens on Aug. 15, 2008
woman1.jpgAn exhibit featuring women artists will open Aug. 15 at The Next
Picture Show, 113 W. First St. The "I Am Woman" show, which runs through
Sept. 16, will include artwork depicting women or objects related to women.
"When we put our calendar together each year, we try to work in some new
concepts. With this show, we wanted to feature work with themes ranging from
jobs and childbearing to humor and friendships and much more," said Bonnie
Kime, executive director of the gallery. "The art runs the spectrum from paintings
in all mediums, photography, textiles/fiber, printmaking, graphic illustration,
drawing and mixed media." Artist Raphael Iaccarino will judge the show. He is an
internationally known artist whose vivid watercolors are inspired by the Costa
Rican rain forests and jungles. Iaccarino, whose work is exhibited in public and
private collections worldwide, has spent years observing the primary subject of
his inspiring work.

| Sunday was a very "artsy day" First the Annual Grand Detour Arts Festival....Saw many friends/artists and pal Shirley Guay won Best in Show. Later that day headed to ART ON THE HILL... the Charity Gala Auction at the gorgeous Pine Hill Bed and Breakfast. Over 40 artists contributed beautiful works of art benefiting the Rock River Center in Oregon. I donated a PMC Pendant...Abstract with black and white pearls and had fun catching up with fellow artist Jan Harvey and her husband Ron. |

| Art Created LIVE for "Art for Art's Sake" Fundraiser Watch gifted artists create art before your eyes at Art For Art's Sake, an event to support The Next Picture Show, a non-profit fine arts community center serving the Rock River Valley. The event will be held from 6 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 23 on the first floor of KSB's Commerce Towers, 215 E. First St. The public will be able to watch some 35 artists finish their pieces, which will be auctioned off beginning at 8 p.m. All proceeds will benefit The Next Picture Show. "A lot of local favorites will be painting for this event, so there will be many recognizable names. It's not every day you can get a glimpse at their creative process," Kime said, adding that the gallery is pleased with the number of artists who have volunteered to participate, as well as sponsorships from local businesses. The evening will include live music by Flying Fish (Todd Lorenc and Jeff Kagay), heavy hors d'oeuvres, wine, beer and soft drinks. Tickets are $35 per person, and are available at The Next Picture Show, 113 W. First St.; The Dixon Chamber of Commerce, 101 W. Second St., Suite 301; and the Dixon Welcome Center, 106 W. River St. |

This is the 2nd Art 4 Art's Sake Fundraiser, with all proceeds going to the operation of The Next Picture Show.Over 40 talented artists will be donating their time and talents by arriving at the fundraiser site to start creating an original piece of work to be auctioned off live later in the evening. The public will arrive while the artists are still working. Appetizers and beverages will be aplenty. Musical entertainment will also be on hand. Where: Ken Nelson Auto, 1000 N Galena Ave., Dixon, IL 61021Time: 6:00 p.m. Public arrives, 8:30 p.m. live auction starts Admittance Fee: $35 per person, tickets may be purchased at The Next Picture Show |

| Thursday, November 19th from 5 – 8pm The Market on Phillips Sioux Falls, SD It's “Little Red Stocking” shopping night downtown for the Children’s Home Society. In support of the cause we are hosting an evening of wine & art. Kimberly Clark, of Dragonfly Studios will be displaying and selling her one-of-a-kind jewelry. She also has donated a silver pendant with white sapphire to raffle for the charity. The tasting bar will be offering complimentary samples of Jessup Cellars wines. The proceeds from any bottles purchased will also be donated. Have an enjoyable evening of shopping and sipping, all for a great charity! I am creating some special items for this sale....Grape themed if you know what I mean.!!! |
